Admission to the PolyU Library is mainly restricted to PolyU students and staff (with a valid Student/Staff ID Card).  However for overseas scholars with a genuine research needs to access information resources available only in the PolyU Library, they may write to the Library (via library.circulation@polyu.edu.hk) to apply for onsite access of the Library for a maximum of three days within a year, providing information about themselves, the unique information resources they need for their research, and the dates they would like to access.  Each case will be evaluated on its own merit.

The Library welcomes Academic Staff or equivalent Administrative Staff, and General Staff of designated departments (which frequently hosting academic visits) to accompany their academic visitors into the Library. No pre-registration is needed if the number of visitors is 10 or below per visit. By tapping one's PolyU Staff ID card on the smartcard reader at the Library entrance security booth, the security guard will know immediately whether the staff member is eligible to bring visitors into the Library. The security guard will record the number of guests visiting the Library. Visitors should be at upper secondary level or above. The staff should accompany the visitors until they leave the Library.

For a larger group of visitors, please send your request to us via the Library Homepage (https://wapp.lib.polyu.edu.hk/selfguidetourform/) in advance.
